How long have you been doing CrossFit?

Since May 2011, about 1 and 1/2 years

What do you love about it?

What’s not to love??  I love being motivated by all the awesome athletes and coaches!  I love that I am challenged and that I learn something new every time I come to class.  I love rowing with the Tom(s).  I love how nothing can ruin your day after you get a PR.

What is your favorite workout?  Least favorite?

Helen is my favorite.  I think it was the first WOD I ever Rx’d.  My least favorite is anything that puts burpees and wall balls together in the same WOD.  I’m not a huge fan of the snatch, either.
What can you do now that you never thought you would be able to do before?
Pull-ups!  All kinds of pull-ups, kipping pull-ups, dead-hang pull-ups, weighted dead-hand pull-ups.  Love those things!
What are your current goals?
I also want to learn butterfly pull-ups.
Do you have any advice to someone new at CrossFit?
Eat Paleo!  Don’t mess around.
Most memorable moment:
The WLC finals.  That was so fun!  I loved seeing everyone cheering for one another and all the great support from the coaches.  Good times!

How long have you been doing CrossFit? Just over 1 year

Bday

What do you love about it? It’s challenging! Whether you’re a beginner or advanced, there is always something that is challenging when you walk in. Also, everyone has such a good attitude. I’ve tried all sorts of gyms and it’shard to get in shape on your own. Everyone I’ve ever met at CFSC were very encouraging and helped keep me motivated!
What is your favorite workout?  Least favorite? Can I answer “Fran” to both? I love seeing it on the board when I walk in but I absolutely hate it when it’s over. It kicks my ass everytime.
What can you do now that you never thought you would be able to do before? Pull-ups and never thought I’d hit certain weights on specific lifts that I recently just PRd on!
What are your current goals? Long term: Get down to a 10% body fat or less. Short Term: Keep training hard enough to be able to compete in an NLI
Do you have any advice to someone new at CrossFit? You may be apprehensive at first but if you listen to the coaches advise when it comes to nutrition, workouts, sleep, whatever it may be…you will have success! I basically threw away any “knowledge” I thought I had and just listened to them. I’m 60lbs lighter and dropping an average of 1% in body fat per month.

Most memorable moment: I have many but a few weeks ago we were doing the “Rankel” hero WOD. I decided to try and RX it. I got through my first 2 rounds and struggled on round 3. When I came back in from the run all of the sudden I found some fight left in me and went unbroken for the next 3 rounds. It felt great to find some fight when you thought you were broken. I think Crossfit helps find that in every aspect of your life

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

About 8 months solid.

What do you love about it?

Almost everything but I would have to say how awesome everyone is. At first I was scared because Crossfit is intimidating but coaches and box mates made my experience very positive.

What is your favorite workout?  Least favorite?

I really don’t have a favorite but I do like workouts that have several 5 min amrap with rest inbetween. My least are birthday workouts. 1st time I threw up was during a birthday workout.

What can you do now that you never thought you would be able to do before?

Kipping pull-up. Handstand push up. Rope Climb.
What are your current goals?
Drop enough weight to go sky diving and then get to a point where I can do a comp.
Do you have any advice to someone new at CrossFit?

Try it. You will like it. Don’t worry if you can’t push the same weight as someone else. When I first started most of the ladies could lift more than me. Everyone is different. Worry about you and your improvements.

Most memorable moment:

The first time my eyes went above the bar while doing a kipping pull up. I will never forget that moment. I have never seen over that bar in my whole life.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

Coming up on 9 months.

What do you love about it?

The community atmosphere.  I know I don’t talk much, so it sounds weird, but it’s the truth.  Knowing that there are people that will notice when I skip a day is what keeps me from skipping for stupid reasons.  Knowing that there are other people working out whose pace I can follow, or that I can just chat with while rolling out, makes it easier to push myself when I just don’t feel like getting off of the couch.

What is your favorite workout?

I haven’t learned any of the named WODs yet, but I did really enjoy the Black Friday WOD.   Not having to step down to a smaller box or kettle bell over 2 hours made me proud.  I hope that long WODs become a semi regular occurrence, I heard that it was a possibility.
Favorite movement?

I like box jumps and kettle bell swings, they seem to balance power and stamina for most workouts that they are a part of.

What are your current goals?

They are kind of up in the air right now.  My initial goal was to get down to 220lbs, that being as light as I’d gotten on my own before I was sidetracked and started putting on weight again. The number was really just a label for my performance and measurements at that peak.  I am faster and stronger than I was then, and the clothes from the back of my closet fit better now at 235 than they did that one day that I was at 220, so I have somewhat lost interest in 220.  When I break 220 I will be the lightest I’ve been since Junior High, and I’ll be very happy, but I think my sights are already set on 200.

Do you have any advice to someone new to CrossFit?

Be disciplined.  Don’t worry about anyone’s pace but your own when you first start.  Getting hurt trying to keep up with people your parent’s age is going to hurt your ego much more than being outrun or out lifted by people your parent’s age.  It takes time and work to be faster and stronger, if it didn’t you wouldn’t need Crossfit.
