Overview of the Surf City Endurance Program
Interested in running a 5k? 10k? Marathon?! How about a Triathlon? Or maybe just focus some of your training hours on improving your running, biking, or swimming? Learn more about the Surf City Endurance program.
CrossFit works on all threshholds of your fitness and creates a well-rounded individual across the elements of performance like strength, flexibility, stamina, etc. CrossFit cannot deviate from this model for sport specific training, however, the Surf City Endurance program allows an athlete to focus on endurance sports like running, swimming, biking, or rowing as a subset to Crossfit.
At Surf City Endurance, we use Crossfit Surf City’s daily training or WODs as the back bone for our endurance athletes. Beyond that we will add additional workouts each week that focus on the particular endurance sport of interest. For example, an athlete training for a marathon will attend 4-6 CrossFit WOD’s per week and then run 2-3 times per week. This model has shown great results and will allow you to reach your endurance goals like never before. Find a coach and ask!!
4 Elements of Surf City Endurance
Surf City Endurance approaches the sport of endurance much like CrossFit approaches fitness. We preach nutrition, technique, muscle wellness, and intensity!
Nutrition: Our nutrition plan closely models what is already done at CrossFit Surf City (Paleo and The Zone). However, we will educate you beyond this with what your body needs as an endurance athlete specifically; Pre-workout, post workout, pre-race, and during a race.
Technique: Technique is very important to us. We will work on your running technique, swimming technique, and yes, biking technique. All of these activities are viewed as a skill that takes practice, practice, and more practice. As your technique improves, you will move more efficiently and suffer from fewer injuries.
Muscle Wellness: Taking care of your body the right way is just as important as training the right way. Recovery is one of the most important aspects of the training program and your body needs the benefit of mobility drills, stretching, and stress relieving drills.
Intensity: Train hard, train fast! We won’t let u do it any other way.
